Family Advocacy Ministry - FAM

BHFM partners with Promise 686 to develop FAMs. Churches are often full of people who want to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable children, but who don’t always know what steps to take. We believe if churches are empowered to openly and effectively share about the problems at-risk children are experiencing, families will step up, either by becoming a foster or adoptive family or by deciding to support a family in crisis.

Big House Family Ministry works with churches to develop their own in-house FAMs to help transform the lives of vulnerable children by:

  • Recruiting & equipping families to care for at-risk kids.

  • Serving foster & adoptive families, and biological families in crisis.

  • Advocating on behalf of families and vulnerable children.

  • Ministering to families and meeting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

  • Offering intercessory prayer to support our most vulnerable children.

Big House works with Promise 686 to provide the training, resources, and guidance needed to empower churches to set up and maintain successful FAMs.

Care Communities

As an outreach of FAMs, churches can develop small groups of individuals (5-8 people) who commit to "wrapping around" a foster/adoptive family for one year, providing a weekly meal, childcare when appropriate, general household support, and the knowledge that families aren’t alone. The average time needed to be part of a Care Community is just 2 hours each month.

Care communities can be Sunday School classes, small groups, women’s groups, or any other group of caring individuals who want to work together to help foster and adoptive families succeed in giving the children entrusted to them the best chance at a future.
