Caldwell County churches and those interested in learning how they can support foster and adoptive families are invited to breakfast on Tuesday, September 15, at the Caldwell Chamber (1909 Hickory Blvd SE, Lenoir, NC).

The morning will begin with a complimentary breakfast at 8:30 a.m. followed by a presentation about the current foster care crisis at 9 a.m. Our expert panel includes those directly involved in foster care including a representative of Caldwell County DSS and a foster/adoptive mom.

Please RSVP by September 8. We can’t wait to talk about how—together—we can make room for children in urgent need.

On Saturday, September 19, we're offering a six-hour training from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Waterlife Church at 1007 Morganton Blvd SW in Lenoir, NC. If you've taken our Intro to TBRI, this session is your next step with a focus on Connecting Principles. The goal of Connecting Principles is to build trusting relationships that help children and youth feel valued, cared for, safe, and connected. Connections disarm fear, gain trust, and enhance learning.

The session is provided in partnership with Mosaic Hope and includes training materials, morning refreshments, and lunch ($25). Childcare for youth up to age 10 is available at no cost.

Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is a holistic model for helping children overcome social, behavioral, and emotional challenges brought on by trauma. This session is perfect for parents, extended family members, teachers, coaches, and anyone else looking for practical tools to help children impacted by trauma overcome and succeed.

This heartfelt evening of inspiration is the annual fundraiser that allows Big House Family Ministry to serve foster and adoptive families in need. The event includes refreshments and a ministry update.

Each summer, Big House hosts a day of family fun in partnership with Brown Mountain Beach Resort. This Sunday afternoon outing includes lunch, play time on the beach, and fellowship with others in similar situations. Thanks to our dedicated supporters, this day is 100% free for foster/adoptive/kinship families in Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba Counties.

The event is from 12:30-5 p.m. rain or shine. Be sure to bring sun screen, bug spray, camp chairs, towels, etc. for fun on the beach and in the water. Lunch will include hot dogs, hamburgers, and plenty of sides.
